How do I configure my Microphone and Camera in Firefox Left caret 39e4e52932a7734654c7050d41e8994c6af11a9d551a36d3df26ab0877b6f489

To use your microphone and camera in Firefox you must allow Firefox to access your microphone and camera.

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Go to https://test.airclass.com
  3. You should be prompted to share your microphone and camera with FireFox
  4. Choose the Camera to Share
  5. Choose the Microphone to share
  6. Click the drop down for Share Selected Devices and choose Always Share.
If you do not see the pop-up box or need to get it back, simply click on the camera icon in your address bar.

To allow chrome to access your microphone and camera, follow these steps.
  1. Open Chrome
  2. Navigate to https://test.airclass.com
  3. In the dropdown that appears select Allow 



To change the permissions if you are not being prompted.
  1. Open Chrome
  2. At the top right, click More (3 dots on top of each other) 
  3. Choose Settings
  4. Click Show advanced settings.
  5. In the "Privacy" Section, click Content Settings
  6. Under the Microphone section, select the appropriate microphone and set to: Ask when a site requires access to your microphone.
  7. Under the Camera section, select the appropriate camera and set to: Ask when a site requires access to your camera.
*Note: You can also get to the camera setting by clicking on the camera icon in the address bar and choose Manage media settings.

For an instructor to gather Emotion insight data for a class several things have to happen.

  1. The instructor has to enable emotion when starting the new live event.
  2. The instructor has to click the Start Insights button when they are ready to start gathering data.  The timer will start counting down from 45 min)
  3. The student must opt in to allow their camera to turn on so their facial expressions can be recorded.
  4. The instructor at the end of the class needs to stop recording insight data and end the class.
  5. The students need to allow their browser to upload the recorded data to the AirClass systems to be processed.

Many times if no data is gathered the cause is caused by the recording not being started or the student simply closed the browser at the end of class and did not allow their data to be uploaded.

When a single user has an audio issue (stuttering audio, choppy audio, etc.) it typically means that user's connection is not good. For example, bad audio can occur when packets are dropped, or when the round trip time for a request/response is too high, etc. The user having issues should try the refresh audio button to see if a better connection can be established.

Right now other students will see a red bad audio indicator on the bad audio user's card. So for example, if Student A is having bad audio, then the teacher and all other students would see this red indicator on Student A's card. At this time, Student A won't see an indicator that they themselves are having bad audio.  This is still being worked on to find a good way to alert the user having issues.  On the student cards, the red bad audio indicator will disappear once their browser reports that bad audio is cleared up.

FireFox has an option to not save your history when browsing.  To avoid problems with AirClass, we recommend not using this option.

Why does the Share Desktop option not appear when I use AirClass in the Chrome browser on my Android device?

In order to share a desktop with the class when using Chrome, an extension is required.  When using Chrome on a Mac or a PC, AirClass has developed an extension that enables this feature.  However on Android, the Chrome browser does not support extensions, therefore screen sharing cannot be enabled.  Due to this browser limitation, screen sharing from an Android Device using Chrome is not available.

Problem 

When attempting to use the built-in camera on a Lenovo laptop the camera does not work. Instead of seeing the image from the camera you see an image with a grey background and a white camera with a cross through it.



Solution

On some Lenovo laptops, the camera is set to privacy mode. To re-enable it launch the Lenovo Settings Utility.  If you do not have it installed it can be installed from the Windows App Store.

Once in the Lenovo Settings utility find the Camera icon




At the bottom of the settings page is a "Privacy Mode" toggle switch.  Change "Turn Privacy mode" to "Off"



On some machines, you may need to also install the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package before the Privacy Mode displays.

A participant in an audio call will need approximately 40 KB to send/receive audio. 
The video feed typically requires around 300KB. 

As a base recommendation, we suggest at least a 1Mbps connection. A network with good latency will dramatically improve video and audio quality since the protocols can react to poor network conditions.

As for playback of replays, since the video file is not streamed, there is no minimum bandwidth requirement. As long as you are willing to wait, the video will continue to download on a slow connection and play when there is enough downloaded.

A good place to check your Internet Speed, Latency and Packet Loss is at SourceForge Internet Speed Test. Once the test is completed, click View Details to view more information about your results.

AirClass Supports many popular file formats, but if you happen to have a file format that is not supported you should be able to convert it into one that is supported.


For example, .AU an audio type used by some web conferencing systems is not currently supported by AirClass, but .mp4 is supported so the file can be converted and then uploaded to AirClass.
